Our Shared Being

Our Shared Being

“Being is the shared background out of which everything emerges, in which it exists and into which it vanishes. Being is, as such, that from which everyone and everything borrows its apparently independent existence . . .”
 – Rupert Spira, YOU ARE THE HAPPINESS YOU SEEK

People the world over are rightly standing up to demand a world more loving, more just, more equitable. While it borders on both naïveté and arrogance to claim a “magic bullet” solution to the many issues and conflicts the world is currently experiencing . . .

Perhaps it would assist the noble pursuit of true global peace if we each considered this simple inquiry:

Can we – for whomever is in front of us, without exception – see through all of that person’s surface behavior and say honestly that we love wholly and completely the being behind the behavior?

This is in no way to say that we must approve of or accept any and all behavior. In fact, sometimes the most necessary expression of our love is a firm no and a forceful pushback.

Nevertheless, can we wholeheartedly love the essential being we share indivisibly with that person and with everyone else?

Being able to say yes in all cases will likely feel challenging. But consider that the healing of a divided-seeming world will be a direct result of our ceasing to see division.
